Sculpture, Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe
This tall sculpture sits outside the Institute of American Indian Arts Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The texture of the metal was fascinating and, set against the deep blue sky and adobe made a very striking image. For a day or so, I thought it was strange that someone would produce a sculpture with a cartoon dog's head on the top of it but eventually I realised that my initial interpretation wasn't quite correct.

Yeah, now that you say that, it looks like a companion to the Austin Motel’s sign. Nice job with this shot btw.. I like how you get your skies so dark and your HDR processing is so clean.

Thanks, Evan. I actually wonder if the text on this sculpture says “MOTEL”? I didn’t get round the back to find out!
I had to admit that I fairly frequently darken my skies either using the Lightroom HSL sliders or by masking in one of the underexposed shots. I can’t remember which I did in this case.
