Texas Through The Hats
Once again, shooting the Longhorn Band on Saturday during the UT/Kansas game at Texas Memorial Stadium was an enormously thrilling experience. I'm currently working my way through 800+ images editing out the bad ones and setting a whole lot of white balances. Thank goodness for Lightroom's "Sync Settings..." feature.
The most acoustically impressive part of the evening is definitely being inside the band hall during the pre-game rehearsal. On Saturday, I made the mistake of standing near the back, right in front of the drum line and I definitely have a greater appreciation of the need for earplugs after that.
This shot was taken during the rehearsal. I took quite a few closely-cropped, telephoto images showing uniform elements framed by out of focus hats and, as things stand just now, this is my favourite. No doubt I'll change my mind and post a few more once I've done a more thorough edit, though.
