New Mexico Sky
Here's another image posted specially for Mike Olbinski who I thought of after reading his comment on yesterday's picture. Mike has a thing for storm clouds and his severe weather pictures put most of the rest of us to shame.
This particular shot was taken in Alamogordo, New Mexico this past summer. We were visiting a pistachio farm (incidentally, home to the worlds largest pistachio) and I loved these cumulo nimbus developing in the distance.
Straight after shooting this, we all bundled into minivan and headed to White Sands National Monument where we spent a glorious evening watching thunderstorms all around us while we sat on the dunes. Strangely enough, it didn't rain a drop on us until we had left the park.
