Here Comes The Ground, Rodeo Austin

Here Comes The Ground, Rodeo Austin

Time for a bit of a change of pace. I spent a chunk of yesterday afternoon editing the 810 images I shot at the Austin Rodeo a week or so ago. I must admit that I hate the job of the basic edit - cutting out rejects and picking picks - so I was glad to get this out of the way. I've narrowed the field down to 97 shots I'll supply to the rodeo folks of which I'll probably post a dozen or so over the next few weeks.

This particular shot shows a decisive moment during the bull-riding competition. I'm not sure whether the guys that do this are huge adrenaline junkies or just totally mental but they have to get on an extremely annoyed, extremely heavy animal and hold on for at least 8 seconds then try to get away without being trampled. The cowboy in this shot is shown transitioning between the last two phases of the ride.
