View from 8A – Californian Recession
I'm fairly sure this was taken as we crossed the southern end of the Cascades somewhere west of Palmdale or thereabouts.
The receding layers of the landscape heading off to the horizon made a great view though the image too a fair bit of post-processing work to pull some contrast out of the hazy original.

Great image Dave – at first glance I actually thought these were ocean waves.

Really enjoying this series, Dave! Normally I just have my iPhone out while flying. I’m going to have to pull out my dSLR now. I love how the central valley creates this ribbon of light down the middle. Good stuff!

Thanks, Hans. I actually took a lot more pictures with my iPhone on this trip. I posted them over on my Facebook page.

I’m glad, Scott since I was in two minds as to whether I should tone this or not. There’s another one coming up in a couple of days that’s untoned so I would be interested to hear which you prefer once that one is posted.

I hadn’t thought of that but, now that you mention it, I do see an angry sea in this picture too.
